En: Montreal from below: OpenSpace on current urban practices and struggles
Each in their own ways, artists, citizens and activists invent, defend and model the meaning and the shape of today's city. By appropriating platforms, crossroads and interstices, by instigating new space-times, and by struggling for their rights and the survival of their neighborhoods, they reinvent the city through different means. These different struggles, interventions, ways of doing and knowing, deploy themselves and sediment themselves without necessarily crossing paths. We would like for them to meet.
For that reason, on Saturday June 12, from 1pm to 6.30pm, DARE-DARE will be hosting a gathering of which you will be the protagonist. The meeting will take the form of an afternoon's "openspace" for sharing strategies and fostering collaborations between our ways of struggling and making the city. The openspace is a way of co-constructing knowledge and sharing practices. It starts with collectively establishing the agenda, breaking up into parallel group sessions, which then conclude with a plenary session aimed at building concrete initiatives based on the discussions.
The event will take place at DARE-DARE, located in a parking lot at the corner of Dufresne and Larivière streets, 5 minutes from Frontenac metro station. IN THE CASE OF RAIN, WE WILL MOVE INSIDE DARE-DARE'S TRAILERS.
